3nd Annual Pull-for-FC Golf Classic - JUNE 8, 2013
- We have June 8th reserved at Aeropines Golf Course, NAS Oceana for our annual golf tournament
- Hole sponsors for the event will be $150 (same as years past)
- Green Fees will be $70. Includes cart, green fees, lunch and gifts
- We typically sell 3 foot putting strings and mulligans for the golfers.
- Putting string for $15, 1 per foursome.
- Mulligans are $5 each, 3 for $10 per golfer. Max is 3 per golfer.
- Or full package (3 mulligans per golfer and a string) for $50.
- Lunch is provided by the golf course (hamburgers, baked beans, cole slaw, drink)
- There is a silent auction during lunch.
- Also we can sell lunch to non-golfers and encourage all families to come out for the silent auction. They can show up around noon as golfers will ome off around 1215-1230.
- Tournament is a shotgun start at 0800, captains choice (best ball)
- First Command is the $10,000 Hole in One sponsorship as well as a hole sponsor.
Where we need FC Crew family help:
- need a fundraising letter signed by President or one of us that includes tax ID and the purpose of the event, along with a blank receipt. Parents need this to give to sponsors or donors.
- we need a flier/receipt form to give to golfers (volunteer opportunity for creative someone)
- We need GOLFERS! Seems obvious, but we need everyone to help with this.

No golfers, no money.
- we need SPONSORS! Almost as important as golfers. We can sell as many as possible - not limited to one per hole. If we have any larger donors, we can get them to sponsor lunch
- we need STUFF! Stuff to give to golfers in their carts (ex Dan Ryan's coupons, Golf Galaxy coupons, water bottle, golf balls), stuff for prizes (first 3 places, last place, longest drive, closest to the pin...) and stuff for silent auction. Again, everyone can help here.
- The kids can plan on washing golf clubs for tips as a service to the golfers - it's a way to keep them involved and show their appreciation to the golfers.

A year ago year we had 3 boats qualify for SRAA National Championships - the Women's Junior Varsity 4, Men's Varsity 4, and Women's Varsity 4. The Men's Varsity 4 and Women's JV 4 finished 4th in their heats with Men's Varsity moving on to repechage. Women's Varsity 4 finished 12th at nationals in Petite Finals. This past year we had our Men's Lt Weight Varsity 4 qualify and participate in SRAA National Championships. We are looking forward to another successful year.
The club was founded in 2001 by a handful of members and one rowing machine. The First Colonial Crew Club has grown to include 55 male and female members and 8 professional rowing shells. There is an about equal amount of girls as boys on the team. Learn a new skill. We have a three season rowing program of conditioning and practice on the water. Come enjoy a sport that celebrates the nautical heritage of our community and provides for lifelong fitness and health.
The membership fee for the both the winter and spring is $750 plus $120 for uniforms. Discount rates are available for just the fall or spring seasons. If interested, please download the application packet here or contact info@fccrew.com for more information.
THE SPORT OF CREW: Rowing is a total body workout. Although rowing looks like an upper body sport, the strength of the rowing stroke comes from the legs. Rowing is one of the few athletic sports that involve all of the body's major muscle groups. It is a great aerobic workout; second only to cross country skiing, with low impact on joints. Rowing looks graceful, elegant, and sometimes effortless when well done, but don't be fooled. The sport demands endurance, strength, balance, and mental discipline.
THE SEASONS: Crew has a fall, winter, and spring season. The fall is a time for cardiovascular conditioning and long-distance races called head races. During the winter, the team does land conditioning and ergathons (indoor rowing competitions). Spring practices are held daily with focus on enhancing form, power, and speed. Rowers look forward to the race on Saturday and the pasta party the night before.
REGATTAS: Usually on Saturday, with an occasional Sunday, the regattas are exciting competitions with as many as 20 different teams attending. They are an all day affair, starting early in the morning, usually lasting until mid-afternoon. Along with serious competition comes food and socializing at the river's edge.
